We're thrilled to announce our exciting partnership with the Chula Vista Elementary School District (CVESD) for this year's spring break program at the ARTS Center! "Feeling Artsy," is an innovative program set to engage up to 500 students in a journey through the world of art and sensory exploration.

As part of this program we will delve into the realms of the five senses through a variety of captivating activities and lessons tailored for 3rd to 6th graders. Here's a sneak peek at some of the enriching experiences awaiting the students:

  • Slime Creation (touch): Students will dive into the wonderfully gooey world of slime-making! Each student will concoct their own unique slime creations, exploring textures and colors along the way.

  • "Who Am I?" Mini Murals (see): Explore identity and self-expression through miniature murals! Students will channel their inner artists as they create artworks reflecting aspects of their personalities, interests, and aspirations.

  • Sound Journaling & DIY Instruments (listen): In this session, students will embark on a sonic adventure, documenting their auditory experiences through imaginative illustrations and journaling. Students will also get the chance to craft their very own musical instruments using everyday materials, transforming ordinary objects into sources of melody and rhythm.

  • Aromatherapy Plushies (smell): Dive into the realm of scents and sensations by creating aromatherapy plushies! Students will learn about the power of different scents in influencing mood and well-being, while crafting their own comforting plush companions.

  • Foods We Like and Dislike Illustrations (taste): Food meets art in this session, where students will express their culinary preferences through creative illustrations. From favorite treats to foods they're not so keen on, every doodle tells a story!

In addition to these exciting hands-on activities, students will also have the opportunity to contribute to collaborative projects aimed at fostering a sense of community through creativity. They'll lend their talents to crafting a communal mosaic sculpture “legacy project” for their school and nurturing an affirmation tree that will blossom throughout Spring Break, serving as a visual testament to their growth and positivity.

"Feeling Artsy" promises to be an experience filled with inspiration, imagination, and endless artistic discoveries. We can't wait to embark on this sensory journey with the students of CVESD, sparking creativity and igniting a lifelong love for the arts along the way!
